CALL FOR EXTERNAL COLLABORATORS FOR TRAINING AND THEMATIC FORUMS ORGANIZATION
LOCATIONS: 3 of the 8 administrative planning regions in North Macedonia (Polog, Skopje, Northeastern Region)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Eurothink – Center for European Strategy is implementing the project “Media for the EU”, funded by the European Union in partnership with ALDA and BIRC, under the Civil Society Program for media participation in North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations.
The overall goal is to strengthen media capacities for coverage, monitoring, and analysis of the EU accession process.
Specific objectives:

Improve the environment for media participation in EU accession negotiations.

Strengthen professional capacities of journalists from non-EU countries regarding EU regulations, policies, and values, with special focus on opportunities for young journalists.

Foster networking among European peers and media professionals, supporting high-quality media production and diversity of the media landscape.
Thematic forums/trainings aim to stimulate media content production and facilitate citizen participation in shaping regional and local policies in line with European integration priorities. Candidates are expected to propose a relevant topic for their assigned region, targeting EU integration processes, including participants from the media and civil society sectors.
ROLE OF BIRC IN THE THEMATIC FORUM/TRAINING:
External collaborators will be supported by the project team in logistics and financial arrangements. Each forum is planned as a two-day event (equivalent to 1.5 working days), with an additional 10 days allocated for preparation and implementation. BIRC will cover all event-related expenses, including accommodation, travel, and compensation for external collaborators.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EXTERNAL COLLABORATOR:

Prepare a discussion topic for participants, designed to ensure participatory engagement of media and civil society in planning, creating, and updating regional/local policies. Preparation should include written materials and/or a presentation (PPT) and incorporate interactive elements for discussion.

Identify potential active participants from the civil society and media sectors.

Communicate with identified institutions/individuals from civil society and media.

Engage relevant local authorities working on the topic identified for the event.

Commitment: 10 days of preparation and 2 days of active participation as a speaker/facilitator.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

University degree in a field related to BIRC programs (postgraduate studies are an advantage).

Basic knowledge of standard office software; familiarity with WordPress or similar platforms.

Advanced proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Analytical and critical thinking skills.

Ability to work in teams in a dynamic environment.

High personal and professional integrity.
