MEDIA AND DEMOCRATIZATION IN THE WESTERN BALKANS: CONFERENCE AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITY IN SKOPJE

“Media and Democratization of the Western Balkans: Are We Reaching Our Goals?” – is the title of the conference to be held at Hotel Karposh in Skopje on November 7 (Thursday), starting at 10:00. The event is being organized by the Kosovo Institute for Media and Communication (IKMK) and the Balkan Institute for Regional Cooperation (BIRC) from V. Macedonia.

Journalists and media professionals from the Western Balkans will debate the professionalism, responsibility and respect for ethical rules in journalism, with a particular focus on ethnic communities.

The topic of freedom of expression and fulfillment of EU criteria will also be the focus of discussions.

The second part of the conference will host a workshop for young journalists on “Defamation and self-censorship” and “Freedom of the media and EU integration”. Anyone interested in attending the workshop should send a letter to the conference organizers:
